Future of cycling in Seahaven - a public meeting was held to consult with local cyclists and input to the ESCC local transport plan.

Upgrades to Denton Corner Roundabout - improved safety for cyclists and pedestrians The roundabout at Denton Corner is to be improved to make it safer for both cyclists and pedestrians. New Toucan (pedestrian and cycle) crossings are being placed on the Seaford side. This means it will be far safer to gain access to the bus-stop and Sainsburys. The existing pelican crossings on the north side of the roundabout are being upgraded to Toucan crossings.

This is a great improvement for those wishing to use the Ouse Estuary path, and good news for cyclists.

Cycle Seahaven will continue to push for improvements to our local cycle network, especially the rest of NCN2 which includes Exceat to Newhaven.

Nice to see the Dutch celebrating their cycling heritage on their stamps. The Dutch have the highest rates of cycle usage and the best cycle safety record in Europe.

In Holland  a motorist hitting a cyclist is automatically presumed to be at fault. Cycling England, the agency funded by the Transport Department, wants the civil law to be changed so UK drivers or their insurers would automatically be liable for compensation claims.
