Meeting of Cycle Seahaven 24 February 2009 |

Forming a Club There was a consensus that a club should be created and it’s purpose to be: supporting cycling in the area. (The area is Seahaven which was generally agreed to encompass Seaford, Newhaven and Peacehaven). The meeting agreed that the club should be called Cycle Seahaven. Proposed by Eddie Collict Seconded by Denis Bass.
Appointment of Officers Chairman The meeting agreed to Andy Lock being Chairman. Proposed by Clive Aberdour Seconded by Denis Bass. Secretary The meeting agreed to Clive Aberdour being Secretary. Proposed by Denis Bass Seconded by Martyn Harris. Treasurer The meeting agreed to David Hester-Lock being Treasurer. Proposed by Ian Cairns Seconded by Eddie Martin. Publicity and Recruitment officer The meeting agreed to Rod Lambert being Publicity and Recruitment Officer. Proposed by Ian Rothera Seconded by Denis Bass. Website Manager The meeting agreed to Ian Cairns being Website Manager. Proposed by Eddie Collict Seconded by Martyn Harris. Additional Committee Member The meeting agreed to an additional committee member – Colin Holman. Proposed by Eddie Collict Seconded by Ian Rothera. Education & Welfare Liaison Officer The post of Education & Welfare Liaison officer to be carried forward to the next general meeting as Ally Preece, who had volunteered to co-ordinate activities with schools at the first general meeting, did not attend this second meeting. (AP1) The meeting noted that anyone dealing with children will need to be CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) checked. The committee will consider this point at their meeting on 10th March. (AP2)
Ride and Activity Organisers Family rides – Andy Lock. On-road rides – Eddie Collict Ian Cairns will put suggested rides on the website. Eddie Collict suggested that Dieppe and the surrounding area could be a possibility for rides. Charity Rides – Denis Bass suggested that the club could run fund-raising rides for charities, eg the motor neurone disease charity. To be discussed at the committee meeting on 10th March. (AP3) Mass Rides (Insurance) – Jay Macnally mentioned a possible change in the law resulting from a House of Lords decision concerning insurance of mass rides. He will send details to Andy Lock. (AP4) Women in Cycling – this topic was raised by Eddie Collict and will be discussed by the committee at their meeting on 10th March. (AP5) Constitution Rod Lambert had supplied a model constitution which had been issued by British Cycling. This will be used as the basis for preparing the club’s constitution at the committee meeting on 10 March. (AP6) It will then be submitted for adoption at the next general meeting. (AP7)
Club Membership Arrangements These will be decided at the committee meeting on 10 March including the amount for club subscription. (AP8)
Logo Eddie Collict suggested the club needed a logo. David Hester will have a go at designing one. (AP9)
Future Meetings First Committee Meeting To be held in the bar of the Wellington in Seaford at 8pm on Tuesday 10th March. The officers appointed at this general meeting (see above) to attend plus Eddie Collict. Action Points 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8 apply. Next General Meeting To be held in a meeting room at the Wellington in Seaford on Tuesday 7th April. (Please treat this date as provisional. Andy Lock to confirm date of meeting). Eddie Collict will book the room. Action Points 1, 4, 7 and 9 apply.
